Reflecting on 2020
A year of loss and uncertainty
Last December, we wrote to you explaining our plans for The Harbour.
We celebrated the successes of 2019, and told you about our plans for outreach and expansion during the New Year.
We introduced our vision for The Harbour as we looked towards a new decade starting in 2020.
Nobody could have predicted the obstacles we have all faced this year.
The coronavirus pandemic forced us to radically adapt our services at The Harbour. Many of the people we support have felt more isolated, and some have said they have found this time confusing and full of uncertainty.
At The Harbour, we are no strangers to confronting loss and uncertainty. We have always emphasised the importance of finding the right ways to work through, rather than past, difficult and uncomfortable experiences. Despite the many challenges we have faced as an organisation in 2020, we are looking to the New Year with a sense of hope and confidence.
This would not be possible without our supporters.
Thank you for helping us to make it through this year.
Organisation Updates 2020
As we enter the festive season, our leaders at The Harbour have taken some time to reflect on this challenging year. Our Chair Philippa Bayley, Clinical Lead Paul North and CEO Sam Thomas share their thoughts about how The Harbour has overcome the uncertainty and obstacles we have faced in 2020.
Availability and Services over the Christmas Break
The Harbour will be closed for the Christmas break between Thursday 24th December and Monday 4th January. During this period, staff will not be replying to emails and the phones will not be monitored. Read our post to find out about alternative services that will be available over the Christmas period.
Staff Changes in 2020
There have been many changes to our services in 2020. We are proud of the way our staff have responded to new ways of working – we’ve worked hard to be together while being apart. As we face the new year, we are saying goodbye to some core members our team and looking forward to welcoming some new faces.
