Reflecting on 2020

A year of loss and uncertainty

Last December, we wrote to you explaining our plans for The Harbour.
We celebrated the successes of 2019, and told you about our plans for outreach and expansion during the New Year.
We introduced our vision for The Harbour as we looked towards a new decade starting in 2020.

Our vision is that everyone in Bristol has a space to talk and be listened to when they face death, dying and bereavement

Nobody could have predicted the obstacles we have all faced this year.

The coronavirus pandemic forced us to radically adapt our services at The Harbour. Many of the people we support have felt more isolated, and some have said they have found this time confusing and full of uncertainty.

At The Harbour, we are no strangers to confronting loss and uncertainty. We have always emphasised the importance of finding the right ways to work through, rather than past, difficult and uncomfortable experiences. Despite the many challenges we have faced as an organisation in 2020, we are looking to the New Year with a sense of hope and confidence.

This would not be possible without our supporters.

Thank you for helping us to make it through this year.

Staff Changes in 2020

There have been many changes to our services in 2020. We are proud of the way our staff have responded to new ways of working – we’ve worked hard to be together while being apart. As we face the new year, we are saying goodbye to some core members our team and looking forward to welcoming some new faces.
