An opportunity has arrived to join our team at The Harbour as a Trustee.
Since 1991, The Harbour have offered more than 40,000 counselling sessions to people facing a life-threatening illness, their carers and loved ones, and to people who have been bereaved. Our work is more vital than ever as we address the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are re-shaping our service to meet those demands. If you believe everyone should have a safe space to talk and be listened to when they face death, dying and bereavement and want to make a positive difference in the way people in Bristol experience bereavement and loss, then this is a role for you .
We are looking for someone who will be committed to the aims of The Harbour. This will include attending Board meetings and ad hoc committee meetings. As a Trustee, we want someone who is willing to critically analyse information that is presented to them and not afraid to speak their mind, providing constructive criticism and supportive reassurance. The ability to work effectively as part of the team is vital at The Harbour.
This is an unpaid role, yet vital to the positive development of the charity. However, it is also a great opportunity for personal development, providing experience of strategic planning and governance within small charities, and development of specialist knowledge surrounding the provision of counselling services.
What trustee roles are available?
If you are interested in supporting The Harbour’s work, or have experience of the types of services we offer, then we would like to hear from you. We are also looking specifically for a treasurer (with accountancy qualification and experience), a secretary (with administrative experience) and people with strategic management experience.
We currently have 6 trustees including our Chair, Philippa Bayley. Our trustees bring a range of skills and experience including law, communications, mental health and programme management.
